Translated by Norma Cole
(. . . it was just a matter of a shield
against the wolves. Against the madness of the wolves.)
“They gave me precise instructions: compose for twelve whisperers twelve series of four lists. When all was finished: a sense of giddiness, a waltz. A kind of music. A vast park filled with large florescent green parrots and incredibly fragrant flowers . . .” —F-A Jamme
Commissioned by a troupe of poetic commandos known as "Les Souffleurs" (The Whisperers), Franck Andre Jamme first generated a series of lists designed to "slow down the world." He then wove them together with an eye and an ear to the waltz. The result: an oneiric chain of vivid yet oblique verses, haunting, lovely, and insistently present.
