Beginning with an epigraph evoking a subject, each poem then goes on to elaborate it in a free-wheeling associative free-for-all that nonetheless holds close to a center that keeps on opening. A tour-de-force of associative thinking and associative imaging—each one creates a virtual roller-coaster of language.

Pierre Alferi (1963-2023) was the author of over fifteen novels and books of poetry as well as three volumes of philosophy/essay. He worked extensively in the short ciné-poème form, and co-founded the influential Revue de littérature générale (1990 to 1996). His translations include works by John Donne, Meyer Shapiro, and Giorgio Agamben. He graduated from the École Normale Supérieur, rue d'Ulm and taught at the ENSBA in Lyon, France, the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs, and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France.
